Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: August 22, 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to services provided by Carey Notary Services LLC (“Carey Notary Services,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By scheduling, purchasing, or using our services, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms.
Notary Services
Carey Notary Services LLC provides mobile notary, remote online notarization, loan signing, document delivery/courier, and related services as available.
A notary public serves as an impartial witness and does not provide legal advice. Carey Notary Services LLC does not prepare legal documents, select notarial acts for clients, interpret documents, or advise clients regarding the legal effect of a document.
If you are unsure which notarial act, certificate, or document you need, you should consult the document recipient, issuing agency, or a licensed attorney before your appointment.
Identification & Signer Requirements
Each signer is responsible for providing identification that satisfies applicable Wisconsin law and the requirements of the requested notarization.
The signer must personally appear before the notary, either physically or through an authorized remote online notarization platform, as applicable.
The notary must be reasonably satisfied as to the signer’s identity and must determine that the signer appears willing and aware of the transaction. A notarization may be declined when legal requirements cannot be met.
Payment for travel, printing, courier, waiting time, or other services already performed may still be due even when a notarization cannot legally be completed.
Document Preparation
Clients are responsible for having their documents complete and ready for notarization unless document printing or another service has been arranged in advance.
Carey Notary Services LLC cannot advise you how to complete a document, determine what information should be entered, select a notarial certificate on your behalf, or determine whether a document is legally sufficient.
Please review your documents before your appointment and contact the document's recipient or an attorney with any legal questions.
Mobile Appointments & Travel
Mobile notary appointments include travel to an agreed-upon location within our service area.
Pricing may vary based on location, travel distance, appointment type, number of notarizations, number of signers, requested appointment time, and additional services.
Travel or service fees are separate from any notarial fees when applicable.
Appointments outside our standard service area may be subject to an extended travel fee. Same-day, priority, after-hours, holiday, or other special scheduling requests may also incur additional fees when disclosed before booking.
Hospitals, Assisted Living & Care Facilities
For appointments at hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living communities, rehabilitation facilities, hospice facilities, or similar locations, the client is responsible for confirming that the signer is available and permitted to meet with the notary.
Facility policies, medical procedures, staff availability, visitor restrictions, or the signer’s condition may delay or prevent completion of an appointment.
The notary must independently determine whether the signer appears willing and sufficiently aware to proceed with the notarization. A family member, facility employee, attorney, or other individual cannot require the notary to proceed if the notary determines that the legal requirements for notarization have not been satisfied.
Travel, waiting, or other applicable service fees may still apply if the notarization cannot be completed after arrival.
Jail & Correctional Facility Appointments
Correctional facilities establish their own rules regarding professional visitors, document delivery, notarization, scheduling, identification, and access.
Clients are responsible for providing accurate inmate and facility information. Carey Notary Services LLC cannot guarantee access to an inmate or guarantee that a correctional facility will permit an outside notary to perform a notarization.
If a facility does not permit outside notaries, alternative services such as document courier or delivery services may be offered when available.
Any applicable travel, courier, printing, parking, waiting, or administrative fees will be disclosed when possible.
Witnesses
Some documents require one or more witnesses in addition to notarization.
Unless specifically arranged in advance, the client is responsible for providing any required witnesses.
Witnesses must meet any applicable legal or document-specific eligibility requirements. Carey Notary Services LLC does not determine whether a particular individual is legally qualified to serve as a witness beyond requirements applicable to the notarial act itself.
If witness services are available through Carey Notary Services LLC, additional fees may apply.
Remote Online Notarization
Remote online notarization (“RON”) appointments are conducted through an approved technology platform and are subject to Wisconsin law and platform requirements.
Remote signers may be required to complete identity verification procedures before a notarization can proceed.
Successful completion of a remote notarization is not guaranteed. Identity verification failures, technology issues, internet connectivity, platform limitations, document incompatibility, signer location, or other legal or technical requirements may prevent completion.
Carey Notary Services LLC will not bypass legally required identity verification or other statutory requirements in order to complete a transaction.
If a remote notarization cannot legally or technically be completed, applicable refund terms will depend on the circumstances and any costs or services already incurred.
Loan Signing Services
Carey Notary Services LLC may provide loan signing services for title companies, lenders, signing services, attorneys, and individual clients.
As a Notary Signing Agent, we facilitate the proper execution and notarization of documents as instructed but do not provide legal, financial, lending, tax, or real estate advice.
Questions regarding loan terms, interest rates, fees, funding, rescission, or the substance of transaction documents should be directed to the appropriate lender, title company, attorney, or other responsible party.
Estate Planning Notarization Services
Carey Notary Services LLC provides notarization services for client-prepared estate planning documents, including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Directives. Carey Notary Services LLC does not prepare legal documents, provide legal advice, select documents for clients, or determine whether a document is appropriate for a client's legal needs.
Clients are responsible for having their documents complete and ready for signing and for confirming any applicable witness requirements before the appointment. Witnesses may be provided when arranged in advance and are subject to applicable fees.
The signer must be willing and able to communicate their intent to sign and must meet all applicable requirements for notarization at the time of the appointment. If a notarization cannot be completed, applicable appointment, travel, waiting-time, witness, or other service fees may still apply in accordance with the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
Appointment Times & Waiting
We make reasonable efforts to arrive at scheduled mobile appointments on time. Travel conditions, traffic, weather, previous appointments, facility procedures, and other circumstances may occasionally cause delays.
Clients are asked to be ready at the scheduled appointment time.
Significant delays caused by signer unavailability, incomplete documents, facility access, missing identification, missing witnesses, or other circumstances outside the notary’s control may result in additional waiting fees or the need to reschedule.
Any applicable additional fee will be communicated when reasonably possible.
Cancellations, Rescheduling & Refunds
We understand that plans can change. Clients are encouraged to provide as much notice as possible when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.
Fees for services that have already been performed or costs that have already been incurred may be non-refundable. This may include travel already completed or substantially underway, printing, platform fees, courier services, parking, waiting time, or other agreed-upon services.
If Carey Notary Services LLC is unable to provide a prepaid service and no substantial service or expense has been incurred, the applicable payment will generally be refunded.
If an appointment cannot be completed because the signer lacks acceptable identification, is unavailable, is unwilling or unable to proceed, does not meet legal requirements, has incomplete documents, lacks required witnesses, or because a facility denies access, applicable travel and service fees may still be charged.
Refund determinations are based on the services actually performed and expenses incurred.
Right to Refuse or Stop a Notarization
Carey Notary Services LLC reserves the right to refuse or discontinue a notarization when required or permitted by law, including when:
-
The signer cannot be satisfactorily identified.
-
The signer does not appear willing to sign.
-
The signer does not appear sufficiently aware of the transaction.
-
Fraud, coercion, duress, or unlawful activity is suspected.
-
The document or requested act does not comply with applicable law.
-
The requested notarization would require the notary to provide unauthorized legal advice or otherwise exceed the notary’s authority.
-
The environment presents a reasonable safety concern.
Refusing a notarization under these circumstances does not necessarily entitle the client to a refund of travel or other services already performed.
Pricing & Payment
Current pricing is available through our website or by requesting a quote.
Quotes are based on the information provided by the client. If the scope of an appointment changes—including additional signers, notarizations, documents, travel, witnesses, printing, waiting, or other services—the final price may change.
Direct-booked appointments require payment of the applicable base appointment fee to confirm and reserve the appointment. Any additional charges are due upon completion of service.
The base appointment fee covers the reserved appointment time, preparation, and applicable travel and is not dependent upon successful completion of the notarization. Refunds and cancellations are subject to the cancellation & refund policy.
No Guarantee of Document Acceptance
A notarization verifies or certifies matters within the notary’s legal authority. It does not guarantee that a document is legally valid, enforceable, sufficient for its intended purpose, or acceptable to the receiving party.
Clients are responsible for confirming document requirements with the person, agency, court, title company, financial institution, attorney, or other organization receiving the document.
Limitation of Services
Carey Notary Services LLC is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal representation.
Nothing on this website or communicated during an appointment should be interpreted as legal, financial, tax, or other professional advice.

Information provided in connection with an appointment is used for scheduling, communication, payment, recordkeeping, and performance of requested services.
